Words With, Jian Ghomeshi

When Open Book launched in the autumn of 2007, we produced a video series, Words With, with Matt Austin as our gifted director.

Words With profiles a group of fascinating and immensely talented Canadians, asking their opinion on the public profile of our country's culture and art, with a particular focus on Canadian books.

We love this series and we are re-posting and revisiting the Words With series over the coming months. This month, we re-featured Caitlin Cronenberg and Jake Gold and now, here is our interview with Jian Ghomeshi.

Jian Ghomeshi is a broadcaster, writer and musical artist from Toronto. He is currently best known as a national on-air personality on CBC Television and Radio as the host of the show Q ... especially after his worldwide hit of an interview with a certain band called The Boxmasters. He has hosted various programs on television and radio including The National Playlist, Sounds Like Canada, Zed and The End. He spent three years as the host of the Gemini-award winning TV program, Play, where he interviewed personalities ranging from Woody Allen to Johnny Rotten to Jane Fonda. He has written for numerous publications including the The Washington Post Sunday and The Globe and Mail. He first came to public attention as a singer and songwriter in the multi-platinum selling folk rock group, Moxy Früvous.
